Oracle 8i Data Source and Connection Pooling

Hi,

I am trying to use the JDBC appender on Oracle 8i and was wondering if we could use the DataSource configured in the App server. We would like to use a connection pool to log the messages instead of making a physical connection everytime to the DB.

Please let me know if this feature is currently available. If there are alternate workarounds, I will be interested.
